The Gesneriad Society Convention 2009 |
|
The Gesneriad Society annual convention has completed with excellent results. Nearly 300 entries and a record number of convention attendees convened in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. The Thursday bus trip was to the US Botanical Garden which underwent a major renovation in 2001. It is now a world class exhibit located right on the Mall in downtown Washington, DC. There were many gesneriads on exhibit. Above is Sinningia 'Roxy' at the USBG.
The exhibition contained quite a few surprises; above is Sinningia 'Pristine', a new hybrid created by Charlene Marietti. It contains Sinningia speciosa 'Cabo Frio' parentage. |
